Bone of My Bone | Johanna van Veen | 2026 - Finished! Check out the full review here. A solid 6 or 7/10 the whole way through. Somehow she absolutely nails the ending and it kind of makes the whole book worth it. Again, not bad at any point, and the interpersonal dialogue is excellent. I just think the world is a little too big for the author’s writing style.
The Pohaku | Jasmine I’olani Hakes | 2026 - Finished! Check out the full review here. The short of it is that the book starts off very strong with a novel storytelling device, but deteriorates in quality as the book goes on. Fumbled ending and ultimately a disappointing follow-up to Hula.
