Books/Manga
- Blood, Sweat and Pixels | Jason Schreier | 2017 - I’m about halfway through and am really enjoying this Schrei-Guy book. I’ve read his other two books, which came out after this one, and I have to say this is by far the most entertaining and least frustrating to read. I do find Schreier’s voice annoying. Now having listened to his podcast, I don’t like the moments of his personal style or the anecdotes or examples he chooses, but there’s no doubt it’s way less taxing and journalistic than his more recent books. It’s a bizarre thing to say, but maybe it was the source-centric nature of the more recent books or a change with the editor. Regardless, are you gonna learn anything reading this one? Maybe? Certainly much less that Press Reset or Play Nice, but this is just fun. You can pick whichever chapter you like and get a nice sampling of a fun story of game dev. They are all really charismatic examples and it’s really impressive he was able to get this number of interviews done in such a short amount of time. Def recommend so far!
- I Don’t Know Which is Love | Volume 1 | Tamamushi Oku - Ho lee shit. This is one of my favorite manga I’ve read. It’s getting on Boggy’s top four. Fuck. This is my past life headcanon in all of its glory.
